Okay, who doesn’t love a great meal and a great drink in a great atmosphere? Trey bistro, the newest restaurant to establish a home in The District can deliver on all that and more, but don’t just take my word for it. Check out these images from the soft opening last month and then head on down to Trey to decide for yourself.

Owners Trey and Jessey Quinlan are the husband/wife duo operating this quaint little eatery on 9th Street next to the Blue Note. I’ve known Trey and Jessey for four years (I also photographed their wedding in Oct ’09) and I’m super excited for them as they embark on this newest venture in their lives. Heck, just five months ago the couple welcomed the birth of thier first child, so they’re not only new business owners, but new parents as well! As someone who owns and operates her own business, I know how demanding it can be and I’m amazed by their drive and determination to make this restaurant a reality.

I was pretty excited to get the call from Trey (who, by the way, will tell you it was not his idea for the restaurant to be his namesake, although it seems to be growing on him) asking me to document the opening. I love photographing food, especially in context. Not to mention that Trey and Jessey really get my documentary approach to photography. They gave me no instructions, their only expectation was for me to just show up and do my thing. I love clients who trust my vision. It really makes for a win-win situation. Soon you’ll be able to see these images and others on the Trey Facebook page and (future) website.

As for the food, I think the slogan on their chalkboard by the kitchen says is best: Think Fresh, Eat Local! Trey is committed to bringing you high quality, simple and tasty dishes with many of their ingredients sourced from local farms, growers and producers. Don’t hesitate. Stop in for brunch, lunch or dinner.  Your taste buds will thank you! And did I mention that Thursdays are Ladies Nights with specials on wine, wells and featured cocktails? I know where I’m hanging out with my lady friends this week!
